My negative connotation of Romney’s “corporations are people too” comes from the Supreme Court incomprehensible decision that corporation have rights like individual people!

Pork…Be Inspired.

Really?! Is THAT really the pork board’s new ad micro-script, Bill?

That’s absurd. Eating a particular food has never inspired me. What are we supposed to be inspired to do? Eat more? Cook more? Exercise? Watch TV?

Even other great semi-emotional micro-scripts have a concrete action to take that can result in a positive emotional experience but the call itself is not emotional…

Nike’s Just Do It
Apple’s Think Different
Sony’s Make.Believe

I think in this case, even Weird Al’s Just Eat It would have been a better choice here! Now that’s action that may elicit emotion…most likely a smile from those familiar with the parody. LOL

Great that they want to expand beyond coffee, in fact, most folks likely already know they sell more than just coffee. But they could have retained the word “coffee” in the logo that goes on their coffee cups (brand logo vs. company logo), or reposition the word out of the logo but still on their coffee cups say under the official company logo and kept “Starbucks” within that logo. Somewhat similar to how Apple’s removal of “Computer” from their name just four years ago when the first iPhone was introduced felt natural and didn’t disrupt anything. Now, Starbucks may have not only “coffee” slip from our minds, but “Starbucks” too.
